Cookie policy

This is a short policy because there is very little to describe. The public pages of this website set no cookies and run no tracking. That is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight: a practice whose positioning is honesty should not quietly track the people reading about it.

What a first-time visitor gets: nothing

When you browse the public pages of chokmah.in (the home page, services, point-of-view essays, scenarios, glossary, blog, contact and legal pages) no cookies are written to your browser. If you open your browser's developer tools on any public page, you will find the cookie store empty. There is:

no analytics (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, nothing);
no advertising or retargeting pixels;
no social-media tracking widgets;
no tag manager;
no chat widget;
no A/B testing script;
no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

Because we set no non-essential cookies and run no third-party trackers, there is no cookie-consent pop-up on this site. The absence of the banner is the point.

The one place cookies exist

The only part of the site that uses cookies is the private admin area at /admin, which Chokmah staff use to manage content. That area sets a strictly necessary session cookie to keep an authenticated user logged in. It is essential to the operation of the admin login, it is not used for tracking or analytics, and it is never set for ordinary visitors to the public site. You will only encounter it if you log in, which requires a Chokmah staff account.

The contact form

Submitting the contact form does not set a tracking cookie. What we store when you submit it (and the salted, one-way hash we keep instead of your IP address) is described in full in the privacy policy.

Third-party requests

The public site loads its fonts and assets from its own origin, not from a third-party CDN, so browsing it does not leak your visit to another company through an embedded request. Outbound links to research sources (for example MIT, METR, Gartner) only load those sites if you click them.

Changes

If we ever introduce a cookie or an analytics tool on the public site, we will update this policy first and add whatever consent mechanism the law requires. As of the date above, we have not, and have no plan to.
